I’ve been using a Bulldog fork for quite some time now. My old faithful tool, it can still get the job done when and where I need it to. This article outlines some of my recommendations for those starting out or still learning about gardening tools. This is the first in a series to help those of you planning an upcoming gardening project begin to make better choices.
Recently there has been quite an interest in gardening tools. The choices available have expanded from traditional metal tools made out of steel to include more exotic materials and even wood. While metal garden tools are certainly no bad thing, having a selection of durable forged tools made out of wood, stainless steel, or aluminum is definitely a nice asset to have.
When choosing a set of forged Bulldog forks, I recommend starting with the best value for your money. It is best to choose the longest, strongest, and wider blades first. If the second longest is too short or long for your purposes, then look for the next longest and strongest fork on the market. After you’ve purchased your set, always remember to inspect your tools for damage. You don’t want to go digging only to find out a sharp edge has cut into your hand, which can seriously injure or even kill you.
Naturally, the most common use for a Bulldog fork is for digging. Most people start out by digging with a shovel, but since this equipment is heavy and clunky, it usually isn’t the best choice. A much better choice would be a heavy duty digger with a digging plate. Just like the fork, the plates come in all kinds of shapes and sizes.
Another type of digging fork that I recently came across is a stainless steel border fork. These are perfect for gardeners who have a constant need for soil to plant their seeds. Because these forks have a large surface area, they can easily penetrate deep into the ground to get the soil that you need. The stainless steel border fork is also available in a number of different sizes to accommodate the needs of the digger that is currently in use.
One of the other important things to consider when choosing a fork is the perfect size. Most buyers said that they are going to use these tools as part of a duo. That means two people will be using a single piece of equipment. Most often, the buyer will purchase a fork that will fit one person. The larger the size of the fork, however, the more difficult it can be to fill an entire hole with just one person. If you are working in an area with very deep holes, it may not be possible to make use of a larger fork.
Last but not least is the spade. Spades have long been a mainstay piece of gardening equipment and have proven to be an excellent gardening tool for many generations. In September, it was revealed that President Trump will be making an appearance at the 4th Annual Great American Gardening exhibition. While no official word has been released, it is likely that he will bring along a spade, as well as perhaps another gardening tool.
No matter what type of garden fork that you choose, you will be happy with the Bulldog welded stainless steel garden fork. The fork is simply too strong to let the softer metal tools slide through. This makes the perfect size, strong, and durable garden fork that every gardener should own. For additional information on these and other great tools, visit Gardenutch.
